Kenya has been over 500 infected with the Covid-19 virus since the emergency began, aligning itself with countries around the world such as Mali, El Salvador and the Maldives.
As many as 45 new cases have been recorded in the last 24 hours in the country, an absolute negative record that brings the total number of positive swabs to 535, of which 329 are still active.
This was announced at the usual daily press conference by the Kenyan Health Minister Mutahi Kagwe, declaring at the same time that officially no new deaths have been recorded and there have been 11 patients discharged from hospital after the tests following the positive results were twice negative.
"In the last 24 hours we have analyzed 10,777 swabs and recorded the highest number of cases since we announced the first one on March 13," said Kagwe, "thirty of them are male and fifteen are female.
Regarding the location of the cases, 29 come from Nairobi and all from the Eastleigh district, with a large concentration of citizens of Somali origin, 11 from Mombasa and 5 from Wajir County.
With the latter infected, the Eastleigh district becomes the most dangerous hotbed in the country.
"There is a community that is spreading the virus in Nairobi, particularly in the Eastleigh district - said the Minister - the numbers are the result of mass swabs carried out in Nairobi in the last 24 hours". Inevitably the number will rise, but Kagwe announced that the Coronavirus emergency team has already contacted the authorities in the area to avoid the epidemic as much as possible and to enforce the rules. The same thing is happening in the second largest area of the city in terms of positive numbers, which is the Old Town of Mombasa, with 39 cases.
