Fifteen new Covid-19 virus positives and three deaths in Kenya in the last 24 hours, compared to 978 swabs tested.
These data were confirmed by the Administrative Secretary of Health of Kenya, Dr. Rashid Abdi Aman, at the usual press conference held in front of the Ministry headquarters in Afy House, Nairobi.
"The total confirmed cases of Covid-19 in the country have risen to 715 after another 15 people were positive in the last 24 hours - announced Abdi Aman - the new cases are 14 Kenyan citizens and one of Rwandan nationality, ten of them are male and five female. The patients are between 20 months and 62 years of age. The cases occurred in five counties and are divided as follows: seven in Mombasa, three in Migori, and one each in Nairobi, Wajir and Kiambu".
Two Tanzanian citizens found positive on the Kenyan border were not counted and were sent back to their country.
At the same time eight people were discharged after their recovery was certified, bringing the total number of healed people to 259, more than a third of the total.
The three people who died of the virus brought the total number of deaths to 36.
"We explained yesterday that we are testing the Tanzanians crossing the border, but that we are testing them on their territory and then we share with them the results of the swabs - said Abdi Aman - so if they are positive, since they have traced their territory, they are legitimately sent back for isolation and also for the search for contact by the Tanzanian authorities.
CAS Aman also revealed that the ministry has sent a surveillance team led by Health Director-General Patrick Amoth to Kajiado County to counter the cross-border transmissions of Covid-19.
This happened after seven truckers tested positive for the virus after testing at Namanga Customs.
