Kenya exceeds 5000 cases of Covid-19 after the bulletin of Wednesday 24 June confirmed that 254 people in the country tested positive for the virus.
Results came from a total of 4,859 samples tested in 24 hours, with Nairobi reporting the highest number of cases, 127.
Of the latest cases, 136 belong to male citizens and 68 to women.
During the daily briefing on the Covid-19 emergency situation in Afya House, the Head of the Health Department of Kenya, Mercy Mwangangi, said that 41 patients were discharged from the facilities, bringing the number of healings to 1,823.
In the same period of time, two patients surrendered to the disease. The total number of deaths in Kenya has now reached 130. There are still 3,253 active cases.
In addition to the cases in the capital, with Westland, Dagoretti and Lang'ata areas that have recorded the majority of infections, the other affected counties are Mombasa with 36 cases, Migori 29, Kajiado 22, Kiambu 12, Busia 9, Uasin Gishu 5, Muranga 3, Machakos 2, Nakuru , Kakamega, Siaya, Taita Taveta , Garissa and Isiolo with one positive each.Relying on data held by the Ministry of Health, Mwangangi warned that Kenya's most dangerous place for the possibility of contracting Covid-19 remains Mombasa.
