Kenya: 3 people died for Coronavirus

29 new cases in the country, 2 more deaths

02-04-2020 by redazione

The official data transmitted by the Ministry of Health of Kenya continue to rise and the positives exceed one hundred units.
Today, Thursday, April 2, 29 new patients have contracted the Covid-19 virus, but there is also concern about the number of deaths, from one to three, with two deaths, one in Mombasa and one in Nairobi, of people whose death is linked to the Coronavirus.
"The total numbers speak today of 110 cases and precisely three deaths linked to the virus - confirmed Health Minister Mutahi Kagwe - The situation in Kenya is not improving. It's not a joke, you don't have to wait to hear the death of someone you know or a relative to believe that the virus is real. This is a very serious threat to our lives and to our nation, the numbers will increase exponentially.
According to the Department of Health, some of the new cases are part of local transmission, and they are people with no previous history of travel abroad or direct contact with people who had already contracted the virus, and this is a worrying fact.
Kenya has entered the phase of local transmission and for this reason the Minister has also announced stricter measures in the immediate future for citizens, without specifying whether it will be Lockdown or not.
"Easter is coming," said Kagwe, "and we will have to discourage the mass movement of people who want to return to villages and visit their families. They will all be strongly urged not to move from their homes to their family villages, especially for people living in Nairobi County.
Other measures that will take effect immediately include the obligation to wear a mask for all workers in the public transport sector.
During the press conference at Afya House, Kagwe also informed the public that Kilifi's deputy governor, Gideon Saburi, has fully recovered from the virus, adding that he will now stand trial for exposing Kenyans to the virus.
