Official cases of Covid-19 in Kenya, we are always a little more than 10% compared to tampons made.
This is the figure to keep in mind to try to analyze the situation and the possible growth of the virus in the country. It does not matter that one day there will be 500 new positives and the next day 300.
The Government has announced, and this is not the first time, the introduction of mass random testing. Some have already been carried out, for example, in the 5 counties that still had no cases and in Tharaka-Nithi county during this exercise a positive resident was found and now all relatives and close contacts he had will be isolated.
Yesterday in the daily press conference that the Minister of Health Mutahi Kagwe held from Muranga County, where he was visiting during his tour to personally check the health situation in the hospital facilities that promised President Kenyatta to bring himself up to par with the state directives that require 300 beds in isolation of which at least a tenth in intensive care, were announced 389 cases of coronavirus, out of 3545 swabs, bringing the total of those infected to 12063. Of the new patients 4 are foreigners, the youngest is 5 months old and the oldest is 95 years old.
During the same period, 345 patients were discharged, 134 of whom were already in home care.
The death toll with Covid-19 rose to 214 after another five deaths were confirmed.
"Four of those who died today," revealed Kagwe, "had previous illnesses such as diabetes.
The Minister urged citizens not to consider the daily bulletins as boring, because the period that the world and Kenya is experiencing is anything but normal and every day something new is said or explained.
The Kiriani hospital in Muranga until a few weeks ago had only 96 beds, now for the emergency Covid-19 has organized 349.
Meanwhile, 20 more doctors from Cuba have arrived in the country tonight, who will operate in Kenya thanks to the renewal of a partnership that will see Kenyan doctors acquire skills from specialized colleagues.
"The doctors will stay in the country for between three and six months and this will really help us to manage the challenges," explained Kagwe.
