Kenya hit 100 Covid-19 deaths

152 new cases, quick tests at the borders

Kenya has reached 100 deaths from the Covid-19 virus. With the last four deaths in the country's hospital facilities in the last 24 hours, the total number of deaths reaches three figures, aligning itself in this sad ranking with 75 other countries in the world.
During the daily press conference on Saturday, June 13 in Afya House, the representative of the Ministry of Health said that, out of 3503 swabs analyzed, 152 cases of positivity were detected in the last 24 hours, bringing the total to 3457 people infected in three months in the country.
All 152 cases are Kenyan, of which 116 are male and 36 female.
As said, there are 4 deaths recorded but at the same time 57 patients were declared cured and discharged, bringing the total number of recoveries to 1221.
As for the geographical breakdown of cases, the bulletin reports that in Nairobi there were 70 positives with a good part coming from the Embakasi district and still an important outbreak in the Kibera slum.
In Mombasa there were 41 cases, of which 14 in Nyali and as many in the old city.
In Busia County, the hub of the entry of hauliers entering and leaving the country through the border with Uganda in Malaba, 16 cases were detected, while in Kiambu County there are 9 infected (Ruiru, Thika and other satellite towns of the Capital), four are from Kajiado, three in Machakos and Migori, two in Kisumu and one each in Taita Taveta, Narok and Uasin Gishu counties.
As regards border areas and customs, which are considered to be sensitive points for detecting and isolating the virus, the Government has promised to send rapid swabs which can be detected after 12 hours and not after 24.
