On Sunday, May 10, Kenya reported the highest number of patients healed and discharged in the last 24 hours, 32, but also two other deaths, in the city of Mombasa.
At the daily press conference in Afya House, the Administrative Secretary of Health of Kenya, Dr. Rashid Abdi Aman, presented the new numbers that speak of 23 people found positive for the swab (1056 in 24 hours) which brings the total number of patients with Covid-19 virus to 672, while deaths in the country rise to 32 and healings to 239. As a result, there are currently 401 active coronavirus cases.
Abdi Aman urged the Kenyans to hang in there and work with the government and emergency team to avoid demonizing patients returning from isolation facilities after recovery, as well as not to hide cases of infection for fear of quarantine.
"The many healings and the effectiveness of new proven treatment methods show that the virus can be cured but we need to prevent the contagion from affecting vulnerable groups," said the Administrative Secretary of Health, announcing new "testing points" throughout the country, where preventive tampons will be applied to anyone who has to travel and for hauliers and traders.
"The measures put in place by the Government are essential to contain the epidemic, and citizens should not stigmatize them. We are only at the beginning - said Abdi Aman - we will set up others, even in stations and road stations along the way. Similarly, we will strengthen controls in the border areas, particularly with Uganda and Tanzania. During the transports our officers will trace the movements and check the state of health of the traveller, confirming or not the right to travel or possibly forty the person and make a new swab".
