Covid-19 Kenya: last MOH update

Less test, less positive cases

20-06-2020 by redazione

Fewer swabs, fewer Covid-19 positives.
In recent weeks, the percentage of infections compared to the tests carried out is more or less always the same, i.e. just over 3%, while the total percentage is still reassuring 1%.
Yesterday's numbers, Friday 19 June, also confirm this trend, with 117 cases out of 3043 swabs analyzed in the last 24 hours.
This was announced by the Chief Administrative Secretary of Kenyan Health, Dr. Rashid Abdi Aman, at the now famous (for those who follow us) daily press conference held at the headquarters of the Ministry of Health, Afya House in Nairobi.
"The total number of cases of Covid-19 virus positivity in the country has thus risen to 4374 - announced Abdi Aman - while the number of tests carried out reaches the figure of 433,541. In the last 24 hours we have discharged 91 people declared cured by our health staff and this brings the number of patients recovered from the disease to 1550".
Unfortunately Abdi Aman also confirmed the death of two patients, which brings the total count of those who died with Coronavirus (and not necessarily "of" Coronavirus) in Kenya to 119.
The age distribution in the reported cases is between 11 and 75 years old, of which 83 males and 34 females.
Geographically, the 117 patients are distributed as follows: Nairobi (51), Mombasa (22), Kajiado (18), Kiambu (6), Nakuru and Garissa (5), Machakos (3) while Kericho, Busia and Uasin Gishu 2, Wajir 1.
In the sub counties, the distribution is as follows: Kibera (8), Langata (8), Makadara (6), Dagoretti North (6), Kamukunji (4), Embakasi East (4), Embakasi North (3), Embakasi South (3), Mathare (2), Ruaraka (2), Embakasi Centre (2), Embakasi West (1), Starehe (1) and Kasarani (1).
Mombasa has 22 cases and they come particularly from the Old Town.
The cases in Kajiado were mostly detected in the border town of: Loitokitok (12).
