Covid-19 Kenya: 262 cases in the Country

Another death and 7 recoveries in 24 hours

18-04-2020 by redazione

Sixteen new cases and one dead in the last 24 hours, with 1115 swabs carried out across the country.
These are the daily data transmitted by Kenya's Health Minister Mutahi Kagwe, who has updated the total number of people affected by the Covid-19 virus to 262.
Of the new positives, 15 are Kenyan citizens and only 1 is a foreigner, but none of them have previous histories of travel abroad and this is a fairly disturbing figure, because it is a sign that the epidemic is spreading among the population and no longer only concerns those who have arrived from countries that had already contracted it. The new cases are between 23 and 84 years old. Nine of these new patients come from Nairobi, five from Mombasa and one from Homa Bay County on Lake Victoria.
Mutahi, for his part, also wanted to remember a positive fact, that of the healings: the discharged patients rise to 60, after another seven people were tested twice and showed their negativity to Covid-19.
He also said that the level of preparedness in the country has improved significantly since the first outbreak of the pandemic was reported in the country on 13 March 2020.
Kagwe spent part of his press conference to warn citizens using social media not to spread fake news and not to take nutritional information seriously or propagate curative effects of certain foods or drinks.
"This is certainly not the time to confuse our people," said the Minister, "and to make publicity propaganda with non-real news. We advise Kenyans to get concrete public information from credible sources such as professional health care providers, the Ministry of Health and World Health Organization websites.
However, Kagwe stressed the importance of proper nutrition and physical activity to improve disease resistance in general and to speed recovery from illnesses.
