CORONAVIRUS

133 cases again in Kenya, 1 death only

Cold weather doesn't help Nairobi

Two days with the same number of cases, albeit with a hundred fewer tests analyzed. For the second consecutive day in a 24-hour period in Kenya, 133 new cases of Covid-19 positive were recorded, bringing the total number of infected cases to 3860 and the total number of active cases to 2429.
There are now almost 122 thousand tests carried out, almost always "targeted" where you are sure to find many positive, although the percentages in this sense remain low but not reassuring.
Covid-19 in Kenya is spreading, albeit slowly and without the force that elsewhere in the world has caused deaths and hospitalizations in intensive care units.
With the arrival of colder temperatures in Nairobi, however, there is a daily increase in contagions and certainly the number of swabs should be increased to realize how widespread the coronavirus is already in the capital, since from the slums and the Islamic district of Eastleigh has slowly spread to residential and commercial areas such as Westland (yesterday's lead case, with 13 positives) and Langata and has also affected the staff of President Kenyatta.
All 133 cases are Kenyan, including 88 male and 45 female.
"We have to ask ourselves why men in Kenya are so much more likely to be infected than women," said Health Minister Mutahi Kagwe, presenting the figures for Tuesday 16 June at the usual press conference, "probably because of the greater responsibility of women and different habits. Male citizens take example".
Kagwe then confirmed that another 40 patients were released, bringing the total number of healings in the country to 1,326.
Unfortunately, another patient lost his life to the disease, with a total of 105 deaths.
The 133 positive cases are distributed in the following counties: Nairobi, 86, Mombasa, 27, Kiambu, 7 Busia, 5 Muranga, Kilifi, Kajiado and Migori, 2 cases each, Machakos 1 case.
