"Entrance guidelines could change day by day"

CS Kagwe warns: "We don't want no more imported cases"

On the day of reopening to international travelers, Kenya recorded 723 positive Covid-19 cases in the last 24 hours, bringing the total number of cases in the country to 20,636.
The percentage of positives per swab is falling, for the first time in two months below 10%, while deaths are on the rise. Yesterday, 16 were also announced.
With 44 cures, the number of discharged patients rises to 8165.
Explaining the new guidelines for those who will enter the country from today, the Kenyan Health Minister Mutahi Kagwe reiterated that the list of countries authorized to travel to Kenya with their companies may change from day to day depending on the increase in the number of cases or the degree of danger of the virus in that country.
"Our decisions have nothing to do with diplomatic relations," Kagwe said with clear reference to the decision to authorize arrivals from China and the United States.
In the meantime, the Department of Immigration has strongly requested all those who intend to come to Kenya to apply for tourist visas online, to avoid further crowds at airports and speed up exit procedures.
"Currently," said the Minister, "we have a situation in which our cases are widespread within the community and do not come from outside.  We have no intention of returning to imported cases".
