Starting on Tuesday at the Gonzaga Institute in Palermo a photographic exhibition on Kenya entitled "With eyes full of light". The exhibition will be inaugurated on the occasion of the centenary of the school.
The Gonzaga of Palermo thus lays the foundations for a bridge with Kenya, proposing to the whole educational community, families and teachers, a twinning with the "Mazzoldi School" of Ongata Rongai (Nairobi), run by the Evangelizing Sisters of Mary, to know and financially support a reality of commitment in one of the suburbs of the world. The installation, supported by the Mamme per la pelle association and the Student Missionary League, presents about sixty shots by Roberto Miraglia, head of radiology services at Ismett and photographer for passion, and other people from Palermo, who have already experienced the extraordinary missionary experience of Ongata Rongai.
"Already last year, with a small group of families and teachers, we had an unforgettable experience in those places," says Father Vitangelo Maria Denora, Director General of the Gonzaga-ISP Institute. "In Kenya I lived the last phase of my formation as a Jesuit and I often returned there. I think it is important to repeat this experience with children and parents, widening our horizon more and more".
The funds, collected through twinning and charity sales of handicrafts made in Kenya, will be destined for the care of the children of the slums, and in particular of the girls who would not have an educational alternative.
The photographic exhibition will remain open every day, Monday to Friday, from 9am to 6pm.
