Covid-19 Kenya: some good and bad news

Percentage higher but less patients in ICU

25-11-2020 by redazione

The percentage of positives compared to swabs rises, although the number of deaths is only slightly higher.
A day that does not confirm the very slight improvement trend that had marked Kenya in the past few days. This is at least what the official data of the Ministry of Health says.
In the last 24 hours, the country has recorded 727 more cases of Covid-19, while the total number of infected people rises to 78,512.
In the bulletin of Tuesday 24 November, Undersecretary of Health Mercy Mwangangi announced that 4,913 samples were tested during the same period.
The percentage is therefore close to 15% again, reaching 14.7% after having previously fallen to 11.8%.
Of the positive cases, 705 are Kenyan and 22 are foreign.
There were 806 cured patients, of whom 701 were from the home care programme, while 105 came from various healthcare facilities. The total number of healings is now 52,709.
Unfortunately, 17 patients have succumbed to the disease, bringing the total number of deaths to 1,409.
However, the emptying of intensive care continues: 51 patients are in special facilities while 106 have moved to general wards and the high dependency unit.
The problem in hospitals is now concentrated on health workers, among those who have contracted the disease and the fact that every 24 hours there is always at least one doctor or nurse among the deaths.
"The government and county governments work 24 hours a day to ensure the protection of health workers," said Mwangangi, "they, the civil servants and employees of the NYS will receive full life cover, it is an allocation of about 6 billion shillings a year.
