One of the symbols of Malindi tourism and daily services is ready to reopen after an inauspicious and troubled period.
The Karen Blixen, a bar, restaurant and pizzeria with a quarter of a century of history behind it on the central Lamu Road, has finally been acquired by a new Italian management which, with a serious and even courageous investment given the particular period that the whole world is experiencing, in a few weeks time will bring the famous restaurant back to its former glory with an even more international feel.
The optimism, the will and the job of the new management, as well as a guarantee is an excellent omen for the slow but sure recovery of the destination, waiting for the opening of Europe to non-Schengen trips.
After the acquisition of the entire Galana Center shopping centre by an important group of Kenyan entrepreneurs in Nairobi and after long disputes related to the previous management, the Karen Blixen was emptied and closed for all these months of pandemic.
Now the new tenants, already accustomed for years to public service and entertainment in Malindi, are ready to bet in full agreement with the property, renewing the premises from the furniture and the kitchen, to return to offer bar services from the morning, restaurant and pizzeria.
Malindikenya.net happily welcomes the beginning of this new adventure which will surely bring added value to Malindi and the possibility to offer something more not only to residents but to all holidaymakers and local tourism who are looking for more and more places that meet the needs of today's customers and are not fossilized on the "old" Malindi "for italians only".
In the coming weeks we will give you more news about the new Karen Blixen adventure.
