Each town, each community has its own historical haunts, symbols of the pleasure of meeting in everyday life, of indulging one's habits and spending some time in familiar places even just to have a coffee, drink or eat something on the fly.
In a multi-ethnic and harmonious community like that of Malindi, where Italians have created services, hospitality, entertainment and workplaces for many years, there is no meeting place more important and iconic than the bar. And the bar par excellence, for almost thirty years, is called Karen Blixen.
We announced this a fortnight ago, the historic Karen Blixen at Galana Center, in the middle of the city's main artery, Lamu Road, reopens on Monday, November 9.
After having suffered a difficult period, aggravated by the pandemic that has seen it closed for months, the bar-restaurant named after Kenya's most famous writer will once again become the reference point that it has been since the early 1990s and not only for Italians.
The new management from this point of view is a guarantee of professionalism and trade, having in hand since 2011 the "Fermento", on the first floor of the same shopping centre; elegant and attractive disco-pub that, until the establishment of the curfew, was the most popular nightclub in Malindi and its surroundings.
The reopening of the Karen Blixen, from this point of view, takes place under the sign of the continuity of the passion for service to the public, as well as representing a courageous investment that also benefits the tourist destination and the everyday life of the residents.
An investment that also concerns a definite improvement of the premises, with new furnishings, a suggestive fountain-garden, the Lounge area and a more airy and welcoming entrance.
The Karen Blixen Bar & Restaurant will be open daily from 7 am to 9 pm with bar, restaurant and pizzeria service.
