Being an Italian woman in Kenya, seventy years after "My Africa" by Karen Blixen.
The Italian edition of Elle magazine in March, chose three women who live Africa with the personality and style that distinguished the Danish writer.
For Kenya, the country of residence of the author of the novel, which was first published in 1937 and arrived in Europe the following year, the magazine chose Murielle Minchella, the owner of the restaurant "La Salumeria" in Nairobi.
The success of what is called one of the most exclusive restaurants in Nairobi, and the fact that she managed a small army of chefs, waiters and staff, without losing the passion that made her fall in love with the Black Continent, attracted the magazine to tell her story, along with that of two other women who live and work in Tanzania and Botswana.
For Murielle, the secret to resist in Kenya, cultivating both romance and the "African sickness" and carrying on an activity in today's Nairobi is based on "a great determination, boundless passion and a lot of experience... my only reason to stay has always been my love for Africa, nowhere in the world do I feel at home as here, in a certain sense I remarried to this land, here you come into contact with what has a deep meaning, you have the feeling of being really useful and making a difference".
