Kenya, like Italy and many other countries in the world, is also moving to order a lockdown of the regions, which here are called Counties.
The demand, rather pressing according to the national media, has come to President Uhuru Kenyatta's table from the Council of Governors of the Counties themselves, who fear an increase in contagion with movements during the festivities. So, if Kenyatta accepts the closure requests, movement restrictions in and out of the major cities that are active Covid-19 hotbeds are expected within two weeks. The counties most prone to new infections are currently Nairobi, Mombasa, Kiambu, Nakuru, Kajiado, Uasin Gishu, Busia, Machakos, Kisumu and Kilifi.
The President's decision, according to the Daily Nation newspaper, will mainly depend on the report of the National Emergency Response Committee (NERC), which will meet on Monday to decide on the main health issues facing the country.
