Covid19, Natural products to help in prevention

Low budget diet to fight the virus in Kenya

17-03-2020 by Leni Frau

Among the various indications for the Kenyan population, sometimes simple and elementary, but important in a country where a wide range of people do not have the necessary culture and experience to face a pandemic and where public health is in conditions far from comforting, there are also those of a vitamin and "organic" diet that fortunately the Nature of Kenya can offer often at very low cost.
Health authorities, for example, recommend immunising the system with vitamin C as much as possible.
The first product that should be used daily is the fruit of the baobab.
Even just in the form of "candy" to suck as it is sold everywhere coloured red and sweetened (5 or 10 shillings per pack) is already a good habit.
A teaspoon of powder dissolved every morning in the breakfast drink, possibly lukewarm and not boiling, is a panacea also for arthritis and other diseases, as well as being 20 times more powerful than an orange.
Another drink here called "medicine of eternal life" is the one obtained from the leaves of the Neem plant. A very bitter tea that is recommended to drink by dissolving honey and has a strong immunizing power.
Much more pleasant is the habit of eating passion fruit or drinking its juice (not very watered down, however...), the passion fruit is highly vitaminic and also has a fair amount of nutrition to invigorate the platoon of antibacteria, including iron, potassium, magnesium, zinc, selenium, vitamin A and Omega 6.
Finally, in a preventive diet in Africa, ginger cannot be missing. Although slightly more expensive than the products mentioned above, ginger has earned the nickname of "natural cortisone" and is considered a very important panacea, containing amino acids, various mineral salts including manganese, calcium, phosphorus, sodium, potassium, magnesium, iron and zinc, B vitamins, vitamin E and essential oil.
This spice has many healing properties. A stimulant for the immune system, ginger has been used by Asian populations for thousands of years to fight colds and fevers. It is also a valuable aid against coughs and phlegm.
Thanks to its antiseptic and anti-inflammatory properties, ginger is also a great help in case of throat inflammation (pharyngitis, laryngitis, etc...). Thanks to its strong anti-inflammatory properties, it relieves headaches, effectively reduces joint and muscle pain and relieves inflammation of the stomach and esophagus.
Let's start with these resources and spread the word to the local population!
