The Malaika Beach Villas and its restaurant with sunbeds on Mayungu beach have decided since last Monday, March 16th, to close their doors for the season.
Although there were still daily requests from residents and long-term vacationers, the owners chose to protect their staff and eventual guests and to anticipate the seasonal closure due to the growing Coronavirus emergency in Kenya and as a form of prevention towards their employees and all Kenyans.
"It has been a wonderful season for our facilities, the success of the beach restaurant and related services has gone beyond our wildest expectations," say the owners.
Here is the official statement that appeared on the site.
Esteemed friends and customers,
"We are very sorry to have to inform you that, in light of the current coronavirus pandemic, we have decided to close the resort as of Monday, March 16th. This closure is a necessary precautionary measure because the health and safety of our loyal guests and staff are an absolute priority and concern for us.
We thank you for your understanding and ask you to take care of yourself and your families at this difficult time. We hope that the situation improves and we look forward to reopening our Resort soon.
