The application of the so-called "Third Licence" for Kenyan-registered cars was postponed, the second phase of which should have come into force from today. The National Transport and Safety Authority of Kenya (their Civil Motorisation) decided to do so in a press release.
The introduction of this new licence should have regulated vehicles, obliging all new and used cars to be overhauled.
The first phase concerning new registrations and second-hand vehicles started on 1 June, the sticker containing a digital code that can be consulted by traffic and public order agents, costs Kshs. 700 per year.
Phase two, which concerned vehicles that will have to undergo the inspection and upload the sticker as a certificate of suitability of the car or vehicle, was postponed until the date to be decided.
There will also be a third stage, which will allow motorists to renew the third licence at the same time as the insurance.
For phase two and three, the appointment is presumably postponed until the end of 2018.
