"This initiative confirms our willingness to involve, support or support the Italian activities of Malindi when they come together and present valid programmes and initiatives. At the same time, the Italian Embassy in Kenya and the Institute of Culture of which I am Director will continue to share events that may concern Nairobi, Malindi and Watamu at the same time, creating a network that promotes the "good" of our country.
These are the words of the Ambassador of Italy in Kenya Alberto Pieri in Malindi, during the gala evening at Kilili Baharini and the closing day of World Week of Italian Cuisine at Olimpia Club. The highest authority of our country in Kenya this weekend wanted to be present not only at the evening sponsored by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation and promoted by the Embassy and IIC, but also at the side events organized by restaurants in Malindi and malindikenya.net.
"Malindi is an important reality for us and every time I come, more and more often for many reasons including important investments of our country in European Union projects - said Pieri - I feel comfortable and I understand why so many countrymen have chosen these places as a good retreat".
Praising the unity of Malindini restaurateurs, during the presentation of Pellegrino Artusi's recipe book translated into Kiswahili, Pieri promised support, through the patronage and joint research of other partners, for a forthcoming event promoted by malindikenya.net of which we will be participating in the next few days.
On Sunday evening, Pieri together with the Honorary Consul Ivan Del Prete, also took part in the closing ceremony of the World Week of Italian Cuisine with the fireworks display that was held on the beach of the Olimpia Club of Casuarina, along with a hundred of fellow countrymen and many Kenyans.
