Malindi will have a woman as MP

Aisha Jumwa beats Willy Mtengo at ODM primaries

23-04-2017 by redazione

The most important news for tourism is that the primary polls of the majority party on the coast, the ODM, took no trouble or baruffs.
The second news is that presumably Malindi will have a woman as MP next August for the new legislature.
Her name is Aisha Jumwa and surpassed the current parliamentarian Willy Mtengo by surprise: 8.436 votes against 3.758.
The scrutiny ended at 3am at Barani Academy School this evening and in the dark there was a festive celebration of Jumwa's paladins in the streets of downtown Malindi.
Wlly Mtengo, a man chosen by the base and Governor Kingi, has announced (as usual) that there have been irregularities and that if they are not clarified, he is ready to jump on the other side and join the Jubilee Party along with the candidate that some Months ago he had challenged and beaten, Philip Charo.
It is important, however, that the coast has responded well to the primaries, the only citizens' protests were held on Saturday morning, but aimed at voting organizers delaying the opening of the seats.
