Kilifi County Governor thanks Malindi

Kingi impressed by the willingness of stakeholders

16-04-2020 by Freddie del Curatolo

Kilifi County Governor Amason Kingi met yesterday at the Red Cross headquarters with the Malindi community and associations of entrepreneurs, responsible citizens and volunteers who are working to prevent and contain the Covid-19 pandemic in the town and its hinterland.
It was an opportunity to take stock of the preventive measures taken by the County to ensure maximum effort to contain the spread of the pandemic.
Kingi congratulated us on the work we are doing to help, raise awareness and unite the population during this emergency which is still in its first phase, unfortunately ascending but with numbers that are still not terrifying at the moment.
"I would like to sincerely thank the people of Malindi for adhering to the government's directives, no matter how demanding the situation was," said Kingi. "I was particularly impressed by the willingness of the business community in Malindi to contribute not only to fighting this pandemic, but also to organize themselves and offer to donate food, tools and means of transport to help vulnerable families at this difficult time. You are showing that we are people full of love and humanity.
The Governor reiterated the call to Malindina citizens to maintain self-discipline, which is the only weapon to slow down the spread of the Coronavirus.
"The severe measures taken by both the national government and my government are in no way intended to harm anyone, but to ensure that as many lives as possible are preserved, so that we can have a healthy country ready to leave again after this pandemic," Kingi commented. "Despite the progress made in equipping our isolation centers in Jibana and Mbudzi, it is not in our interest as county government to see any of our citizens hospitalized in these facilities. We will continue to apply these preventive measures and make sure we reduce the number of cases in Kilifi County. Together we will defeat the Crown.
So far, there are 10 positive cases within the County out of 225 national cases. In any case, Kilifi is considered one of the five regions at risk for the spread of the virus, along with Nairobi, Mombasa, Mandera and Siaya.
Meanwhile, the initiatives of the Progress Welfare Malindi Association and Malindikenya.net are continuing to distribute as many masks as possible to local communities, thanks to the contributions of many activities and individuals of which we will continue to inform you.
