Kenyans are one of the most optimistic peoples on Earth and the most optimistic of all on the African continent. This is revealed by a study by the Global Optimism Outlook Survey, which conducted an interview with over 20,000 people of all nationalities in over 23 countries around the world. The survey, commissioned as part of the preparations for Expo 2020 Dubai and conducted by YouGov, reported that more than 70 percent of Kenyans profess optimism. This is well above the global average of 56% and also above the continental average of 64%.
Although it is a partial statistic and conducted by a body that tends to evaluate above all the world of technological achievements and its induced activities, the data collected reveal something of which those who know the Kenyan people and in general that of Sub-Saharan Africa, are already aware.
The questions to the interviewees concerned above all expectations for the future, economic growth, sustainability, technology, travel and other aspects.
More than eight out of 10 85% of Kenyans surveyed believe that learning and access to education is the best way to secure the future of the new generations.
There is also optimism about the population's access to resources (82%) and cross-border trade. In addition, 97% of respondents believe that technological advances will increasingly connect people globally and that individuals and communities will continue to shape the future through knowledge sharing.
Behind Kenya in Africa have been classified South Africa and Nigeria, while the least confident and generally most pessimistic nations in the future are those in Europe and North America.
