EMERGENCY

An important gesture of our compatriots makes the work of the doctors of the General Hospital of Malindi safer and more protected and consequently respects the health of patients.
The initiative comes from the Italian company DIVOC (read COVID backwards) producer of professional surgical masks that also thanks to Malindikenya.net has decided to donate more than a thousand masks to the hospital and for this he received an official mention from the company of Kilifi County.
The idea is the result of the generosity and attachment to Malindi of the Ligurian entrepreneur Andrea Puricelli and his wife Paola.
Paola's father lived here for 17 years and we have been visiting Kenya for a long time every year, having a house in Mambrui," explains Andrea. "Having followed the situation of the pandemic and knowing the problems of local health, we decided to help a structure that more than others is in the front line to contain the virus. Our masks have international certification and guarantee 99% protection, which is why in Italy, as well as being on sale to everyone, they are particularly suitable for health workers. We are happy that the doctors and nurses at Malindi Hospital have them available".
It was Dr Salma Naji who received the donation and guaranteed that the masks will only be used by the medical staff and health workers. Many colleagues have gone on strike in recent days and one of the reasons for the agitation is safety at work. Although Kenya does not have high numbers of official deaths from Covid-19, it has already recorded 30 doctors, 26 nurses and 10 employees among those who have lost their lives at work due to the virus.
