Alitalia and Kenya Airways: more agreements

The two airlines sign another code-share partnership

29-01-2020 by redazione

After the agreements signed last spring in relation to the Rome-Nairobi flight with direct connections to Malindi, the Kenyan flag carrier Kenya Airways signed another code-share agreement with Alitalia, creating further connectivity to the networks of the two carriers.
This new partnership, as the Kenyan financial newspaper Business Daily notes, is intended to boost business travel and tourism between African points to Europe, the Far East and South America.
The agreement will offer tourists and business people additional travel options and better flight times for travel to Central and Southern Africa to other continents through the two airlines' hubs in Rome and Nairobi.
"The expansion of this partnership after such a short period reflects the opportunities that have opened up since the start of the flight from Nairobi to Rome and demonstrates our continued commitment to creating more solutions for travellers in Africa," said Ursula Silling, Chief Commercial Officer of Kenya Airways.
Alitalia is likewise expanding its code-share network in the African Continent, by entering its "AZ" flight code on the Kenya Airways service to Malindi to take advantage of the Kenyan company's recent move to re-launch direct connecting flights to Malindi. Similarly, Kenya Airways will expand its offer by entering its flight code on Alitalia services from Rome to destinations already covered by Alitalia such as Tirana, Podgorica, Santiago de Chile, Buenos Aires, Sao Paulo, Rio de Janeiro and Seoul.
The transfer means that Kenya Airways customers will be able to fly to their destination without any problems with a single check-in ticket at the departure airport and collect their luggage at the end of the journey at the arrival airport.
