MAL D'AFRIQUE

I came to Kenya for the first time because my dearest friend was there 6 times and when he came back he made me crazy talking about it.
Actually when he proposed it to me I immediately said yes because at 50 I wanted to make a special gesture and then because with him I would do anything.
I did 10 days in Kilifi and everything my friend Paolo told me amplified.
Another world, with completely new smells, colours and flavours.
If you don't go to Africa, there is no story to explain it.
If you don't eat an apple mango, if you don't see the misery of children and the dignity of old people, you haven't understood anything.
If they don't always try to cut you money, if they don't sing with you Jambo Bwana at the top of their lungs, then you're just a tourist.
If you don't understand that another world is possible, if you think that Africa adapts to you, then you have not understood anything.
If when you come back your skin doesn't smell like anything else, you haven't been to Africa.
If you have done all this, you can only go back there as soon as possible.

Imagine a space where sky does not dominate you
it runs through you
where you don't breathe air, you taste it
a place where time doesn't run, it simply rolls by
where your nerves no longer get nervous.
A place...

This space is dedicated to all the people who had to do with Kenya, on holiday, for job, guests of a friend, for voluntary service or by any other voluntary or unintentional chances, and who experienced so much the magic...
A good read, about past times and those who dream of reviving them, until reaching the origin of those ancient tales narrated here. It's the Kenya of «Lord of the prairie», the latest book by the spanish writer Javier Yanes.
