Malaika Beach, the paradise is restyled

The restaurant with sunbeds in Mayungu reopens

26-07-2019 by Freddie del Curatolo

Who said that peace, the escape from stress and the feeling of extreme freedom cannot go hand in hand with organization, attention to details and services?
Maybe someone said so, but he certainly hasn't been to the Malaika Beach Restaurant yet.
Already many in Malindi and Watamu have learned to know this magical corner of paradise in Mayungu, on the shore of the Indian Ocean, which has reopened these days.
In the third season of activity, between lunches and sunbeds, the Malaika has not only gained considerable popularity, but has decided to expand and renovate its spaces to accommodate the growing demand for customers. The air is that of a real ballet factory in perfect balance between European comfort and essentiality combined with the idea of African-style relaxation. The sunbed area, which can now accommodate more than fifty, and the two restaurant rooms, sheltered from the wind without losing a millimetre of the fantastic view of the thousand shades of blue of the sea, the sand atolls and the coral reef, are joined by a chiringuito with a lounge area, ideal for aperitifs and fresh tropical juices.
The cuisine, the result of family management that remains the strength of the place but never goes beyond discretion and extreme courtesy, is the strength. Because if the place itself is successful, unique, secluded and extraordinary, being able to enjoy linguine with shellfish like those of Malaika Beach, right there at the right price, paying a maximum of 300 shillings (not even 3 euros) for the bed, is really privileged. Not to mention the seafood salads, but also the care in simple bruschettas or light dishes for the day at the beach.
Going a little further than usual, even as a mentality, is not bad at all.
From this year the Malaika Beach Restaurant is also able to accommodate, by reservation, groups for unique evenings and dinners on the beach in a secluded and exclusive environment.
