ROADWORKS
13-01-2020 by Freddie del Curatolo
The disgraceful situation of the Malindi waterfront road could be resolved in the coming weeks. The good news is that the Equistar company that has taken the contract for the entire redevelopment of the roads belonging to Kilifi County (nothing can be done for now in those, like the first part of Casuarina, under the aegis of the central government) has received the substantial advance to continue the work that had been blocked anyway first for the heavy rains in November and December and then for the coincidence with the Christmas holidays. Now that everything is in place, a resolutive meeting between the company and the county's technical office was called for this morning to fix the final details on how the road will have to be rebuilt (here it is not only a question of rebuilding, but the road will have to be completely rebuilt) and on the starting date of the works. It is planned to work on one lane at a time so as not to impede the passage for those living in the Shella district and for managers and patrons of the activities included in the stretch from the Tangier Lounge to the Baobab. As always, we will keep you updated on developments.
