A good part of Italians will not give up the Christmas holidays and the first months of the New Year in the Tropics and warm countries. It is now a custom of decades and several generations to move to warm your bones and rest your mind in natural paradises when the grip of the cold tightens on Italy. Students and those who work as employees will be the categories most at risk to give up, if the obligation of quarantine remains even in front of a "return pad", there will be little chance for them to think about a holiday abroad during the Christmas holidays.
For pensioners, on the other hand, the problem is another one, linked not to times and ways, but above all to health security. If, on the one hand, staying in Italy with the arrival of low temperatures can increase the risk of being overwhelmed by the "second wave", on the other hand, escape from the heat often coincides with destinations where health care is not at the top or is good but private with inaccessible prices. In the case of Covid-19 then most of the insurance for tourists travelling abroad does not cover the virus emergency.
Those who are preparing for special offers so as not to lose their regular customers during the high season are the airlines: some of them are setting up partnerships with insurance companies that will cover the cost of quarantine in countries that require it in the event of negativity on arrival or symptoms during their stay in the area. These are covers that provide for the payment of the costs of isolation in hospitals up to a certain amount with the price of the round-trip ticket alone, with a duration of up to 90 days.
Some may also provide for the repatriation of the patient before the presumed date of return.
Ethiopian Airways is the first to announce this initiative, but the outlines are not yet clear, but other carriers that usually travel on Kenya are also moving in this direction. Giving up air traffic to East Africa from Christmas to Easter would be a tragedy for them too. Economic.
