After just over two months, the Government of Kenya has published the first statistics relating to the 2019 Census, which was held in the week from 24 to 31 August last.
The relevant news of the national census held every ten years is that Kenya is fast approaching the 50 million inhabitants, including foreign residents.
This year's figures say the population is 47,564,300, 12 million more than the last census in 2009.
In two and a half years' time, the population will reach 50 million.
Kenyan women are in a slight majority compared to men, about half a million more. New compared to last time, 150 people declared themselves to be hermaphrodite.
The average Kenyan family is made up of 4 people, and here too civilization and propaganda on the use of condoms and contraceptives has reduced births by 30%.
In the Islamic areas on the border with Somalia, the highest percentage of people belonging to the same household, 7.
In Nairobi, the city has the lowest percentage, just under 3.
Speaking of Nairobi, the city population is 4,397,073 thousand inhabitants, not counting the suburbs and some slums. Kiambu County, attached to the city, for example, has another 2.5 million inhabitants. On the coast, Mombasa exceeds one million inhabitants, with its hinterland, while the sub-contea of Malindi reaches 333 thousand inhabitants (1,416,000 in the whole County of Kilifi).
On the average density per square kilometer, the savannahs and the large semi-arid and wild territories still maintain a very low percentage: 82 inhabitants of average (from 6 per kilometer of Wajir to 6,400 of Nairobi). In Italy the average density is 422.
The Government of Kenya has transmitted other interesting data that concern in depth every district of the country, and in the coming weeks are expected to be those concerning the other questions that have been asked during the operations of the census: trades, level of education, etc..
