Kenya Coast bet on East Europe tourists

A growing market with different levels of travelers

21-11-2019 by redazione

The Italians are no longer present as in previous years and above all have reduced their stay to the months of high season, the so-called domestic tourism is concentrated especially during the weekends and bridges with the holidays commanded (which fortunately in Kenya are not few ...), Americans and British notoriously prefer the savannah and the North of the country and the Chinese have already invaded peacefully Maasai Mara and throw themselves into business tourism in Nairobi.
Who can save the Kenyan coast by guaranteeing a constant and numerous influx of tourists?
Right now, the hopes of the operators of coastal destinations are directed to the market of Eastern Europe. Since the beginning of the year, many tour operators have focused on Mombasa, Diani and Malindi to make them destinations to promote. Two charter companies fly once a week to Mombasa and in fact took a slice of the cake left on the table by the big British operator Thomas Cook.
From Poland and the Czech Republic come tourists all year round who expressly ask to be able to share their holiday between the Indian Ocean and the Savannah, from January 2020 the charter company Smartwings Airlines will double its flights from Warsaw and Prague, others already arrive through TUI.
They are excellent customers who do not just stay in the facilities but also go out willingly, buy food and drink.
In addition to the "all-inclusive" categories and the owners of holiday packages, other types of travelers, business related or frequenters of boutique hotels and luxury resorts are also joined: they are mainly Russian or neighboring countries such as Azerbaijan and Kazakhstan, businessmen who love privacy but also have fun with deep-sea fishing and adventurous safaris. Malindi and Watamu can also offer a lot to them. Already in these destinations there are moves to attract this kind of tourist and certainly that of the Russians will be a very beaten drift in the coming seasons.
