Another thirty days of curfew in Kenya from 21 to 4 in the morning, with the only variation that restaurants can keep the business open until 20, with an extra hour of work, and hotels can sell alcohol to their internal customers.
These are the news broadcast a few hours ago live by President Uhuru Kenyatta after the eleventh presidential speech since the beginning of the pandemic in Kenya.
Kenyatta talked about the improvements in the country with respect to cases and rates of infection by tampon, which dropped from an average of 13% to eight (actually from three days we are at 5%) and the stability of the economic system, but at the same time he said he wants to continue the work to eradicate as much as possible the Coronavirus and therefore the curfew as a preventive measure will remain in force for another 30 days.
Secondly, bars and nightclubs will also remain closed but will have 30 days to comply with the regulations set up specifically for them, to prepare for a possible reopening at the end of September if the data on the incidence of Covid-19 in Kenya will be confirmed.
Even restaurateurs, to tell the truth, expected the ban on selling alcohol to be removed, in fact from the presidential communiqué distributed after his speech it is clear that only hotels will have this privilege.
Also the preventive measures for the entry of foreign citizens into the country remain in force, so PCR buffer or alternatively 14 days of quarantine in government facilities (or at home for Kenyan citizens and residents).
Next September 28th Kenya could remove the last vetoes of the pandemic emergency...
