Italian tourism in Kenya, there's a chance

It's mandatory now to fill an online form

08-08-2020 by redazione

There is a glimmer of light to see the return of Italian tourists to Kenya next week.
The Italian government approved yesterday evening the new "August" Decree Law, which was postponed from July 31 to Monday 10, when it will actually come into force. Apart from the many measures to relaunch the country, there should also be indications that tourists can leave the country for leisure trips outside the European Union.
The Farnesina does not update the measures for the moment, but it is thought that Italy could follow the European directives if, before mid-August, Germany, France and Holland opened to tourism to Kenya and 16 other countries in the world.
The decision of the other countries of the United Europe could be taken between Monday and Tuesday, according to the German newspaper Bild-Zeitung.
The government in Rome has always supported European policies on closures or reopening to foreign countries in times of pandemic emergency.
In fact, the Prime Minister Giuseppe Conte, who signed the new decree late in the evening, announced only measures, bans and reliefs that affect the national level, so for now, travel for tourism in almost all foreign countries outside the European Union is still banned and the return from each of these countries is regulated for Italian citizens with the classic quarantine period of 14 days.
The new decree, which was discussed yesterday and arrived late in the afternoon at the Council of Ministers, still makes no mention of the reopening for citizens who would like to travel beyond the Old Continent. We shall see what will happen next Monday or we shall wait for any communication on this matter from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
In the meantime, for those who want to come to Kenya it is necessary: to be resident or otherwise enrolled in AIRE in that country, or present a document proving the strict need to travel to Kenya, dictated by a family reunion, a recruitment or the beginning of a program of cooperation, study, professional training or other.
However, a few days ago it became mandatory for everyone to fill out an online form before departure and receive the OK from the Kenyan Ministry of Health.
In case you do not receive it, it is better to print a screenshot of the completed and sent form.
Some travellers with regular documents were stopped on international flights before departure because they did not have such a document. Not all airlines are checking it, but you want to avoid problems on arrival at Kenyan airports.
This is the link to fill in the form and download.
