He died at 91 years old in Cremona, after a long illness but above all after a splendid, adventurous life with his partner Gianna.
Bruno Brighetti will remain in history for having written together with the musician and performer Bruno Martino, one of the most famous Italian songs in the world,"Odio l' Estate", better known as "Summer".
But for those who have always been in Kenya, Brighetti has also been one of Kenya's most important conservationists and protectors of wild animals, a great underwater fisherman and lover of the marine world.
For thirty years he has been the owner and manager of the Blue Safari Club on the island of Manda, in the Lamu archipelago (now called Manda Bay).
But everything began at the end of the 1960s in Naivasha, from a friend's estate where he woke up with rhinos and elephants.
"I didn't believe in my eyes - she told me two years ago for the documentary "Italians in Kenya" - I was convinced to live in a novel, not in the real world. So I decided to move away forever. At the time I was the correspondent for the magazine "Underwater World", and so from the wild reserves of the north I moved to the island of Manda, another real paradise, and I founded the Blue Safari that has been a landmark for years".
Brighetti with the family also had "Kongoni Lodge", one of the most beautiful nature reserves in Naivasha.
His is one of those stories to tell and pass on, which lend prestige to the inventiveness, dignity, culture and intelligence of many Italians abroad.
And we will gladly tell you about it often, since unfortunately we will not be able to listen to you anymore from your calm, wise and serene voice.
Congratulations to the family.
