The Italian Malindi is like a small village on the Peninsula Peninsula in the middle of Africa.
A summer vacation village, where the local population is around three thousand units but during holidays it multiplies, especially of regular guests.
And just like the Italian resorts, the "native" population every year is getting older, although in recent seasons there has been a comforting generational replacement.
In this context, there are so many compatriots who are touching us.
But while in the case of Colonel Tiziano Traldi, for eighty-five years, the emotion leaves the field to the reality of things and indeed can only smile in front of an exemplary Italian life in Kenya, the one that every expatriate surely dreams of, the tragic Eddy Buffa's end leaves only questions and despair, a great sense of void and helplessness for those who knew him.
Just like for another long-running malindine, who has disappeared just sixty years ago.
Domenico Di Giacomo, a brilliant romance from the ready-made joke, like many Italians from here, was known for what his job was until recently: Domingo del Casinò.
And at the Domenico Casino he had always been, he had seen him rise and knew every secret.
He was a boss, repaired slot machines like bulbs, but he was also involved in purchasing, logistics and every now and then you saw him in front of a roulette to do the croupier inspector. In addition, he had been married to the "daughter of the boss", Daniela Cellini and having a daughter, Diva.
So unmistakable and elegant in its full of penguin, as "vansian" in the hours of freedom, lying in front of the sea with a Hawaiian shirt or drinking a drink under a palm after sticking to the first button that came.
Domenico was so, logical and fanciful, pallor and sometimes blunt, but human and true as few.
I called him "maddenché", for that vice to contradict everyone, but in the end refuse to be alone with all Romanesque irony. Domenico has not been healthy for a long time, and a home accident has worsened things. He died in a hospital bed, he would have been more willing to ride on his beloved Harley Davidson.
Farewell Domé.
