A laudable initiative for Kenya comes from Italy, and more precisely from the AS Roma football club. The team from Rome has decided to collaborate with the Missing Child Kenya association, which looks for Kenyan minors of whom nothing is known. A sort of "Who saw it?" of the African country that launches appeals around the world to try to track down so many young people.
"In July, AS Roma worked with Missing Child Kenya to highlight individual cases of missing children in Kenya each time we announced transfers of our players. During our summer social media campaign, 16 young Kenyans were published in the hope that they will be found," AS Roma posted on Twitter.
The Italian sports club has decided to take a completely different approach to announcing new purchases (the latest in chronological order, that of Armenian Mikhytarian, last September 1) in the hope that the large number of users in the social network will be of use to the families of missing children.
The Child Welfare Society of Kenya in its database reports that every year about a hundred minors disappear from their homes. Some end up in the streets, others seem to have disappeared. The greatest risk is that of abuse, exploitation, organ trafficking.
The numbers are disturbing, but unfortunately on average with many other countries in the world, if it is true, as reported by the International Centre for Missing Children, that every year the traces of 8 million children are lost, which means about 22 thousand children a day.
The goal of Rome is to show that football is not only fun, but also a tool that can unite people, regardless of age, race, gender, culture or nationality and help solve the problems of society.
