A SONG OF KENYA...(12-17)

Today, thursday 17th december 2020

17-12-2020 by Freddie del Curatolo

Today's Kenya Song, Thursday 17 December, is the soundtrack to a ballet entitled 'The Dance of the Ostriches'. It tells of a spectacle that has been repeated every day in nature for thousands of years and of which Kenya is one of the few natural stages.
The ostriches of the Maasai Mara know little about the pandemic that has changed the world for humans, because they know how to dance in the face of adversity and change, because they have always defended themselves against daily threats that they did not create and that force them to move through reality without having to invent alibis.
But it is a reality, the animal and sometimes cruel reality of the savannah, where you know what awaits you and you do not have to rely on anyone to change your fate. You leave it to fate and to the rules of your community. That is why you will never give up following your instincts, courting your partner, raising your children as your parents raised you.
To dance moving in a sublime way giving the impression of walking or running backwards. In reality you are moving forward and you never do it alone, repeating usual movements with the unnatural grace of someone who is sure of what he is doing and aware of what he can do.
And it is a dance from which there is only one thing to learn.
