Malindi for a weekend disguised as Rimini to celebrate the genius of Federico Fellini, the great director from Romagna three times Oscar-winning, a hundred years after his birth, without forgetting his passion for women, coinciding with the feast of March 8th.
Thanks to the initiative of the Italian Embassy and the Italian Cultural Institute and the organization of Malindikenya.net, the rediscovered unity of many Malindine activities have allowed to set up an event that will also have, as happened in the case of the edition of the International Week of Italian Cuisine, a trail of culinary initiatives as a side dish.
As already announced, the main event will be the inauguration of the exhibition of drawings by the Master of Rimini, Saturday, March 6 at 6 pm at the White Elephant, with a show of music from Fellini's films and "dreams", played and arranged by musician Marco "Sbringo" Bigi, and readings and testimonies by journalist and writer Freddie del Curatolo and the curator of the National Library of Malindi, Doris Kamuye. During the happening also video images of Fellini's films, other surprises and a small final refreshment, which will be accompanied by tastings of pizza offered by the Olimpia Club.
The same evening, in addition to being able to book dinner in the film atmosphere (not by chance also used by Checco Zalone recently) of the White Elephant, other initiatives will take place: the Romagna Tangier Lounge dinner based on piadina romagnola with mixed cold cuts, trist di primi (or "soups" as they say in Romagna) consisting of fresh tortellini in capon broth, tagliatelle with meat sauce and tortelli ricotta and spinach, and as a second pork chops baked with potatoes, all garnished with a musical selection based on "lissio".
Also at Baby Marrow Restaurant the gastronomic weekend will be enriched by Emilia-Romagna specialities at Baby Marrow, with the inevitable "turtléin" in capon broth or even dry with fondue, tomato or meat sauce, tagliatelle alla romagnola with meat sauce and peas and the even more international lasagne. Lasagne and tagliatelle that won't be missing even on the tables of the Olimpia Club, with the singer Salvatore Strano interpreting some timeless classic of the Fellini areas, such as "Romagna Mia".
The weekend of tributes has its highlight with the buffet-style "Riccione Beach" at lunch on Sunday at the Osteria di Casuarina, with specialties from Romagna that are added to the always rich Sunday proposal: lasagne and surroundings and also the singer Catherine will pay homage to Fellini by singing two well-known songs from Romagna.
Sunday evening, finally, to celebrate Women's Day, an evening in pink style "La città delle donne" will be staged in Rosada, with a welcome drink, floral tribute to the ladies, à la carte dinner and non-stop pizza, live music by Filippo and the fashion show of Wild Side Shop Boutique. For all women a free lottery ticket and the possibility to participate in the prize draw. When Malindi comes alive together it is always a great party.
