A large crowd, mixed as it is in the tradition of the multiethnic town, waited yesterday morning for the classic ribbon cutting for the opening of the supermarket of the chain Tuskys in Malindi, in the space of the Oasis Mall in Lamu Road left free recently by the Ocean Grocer and previously by the now forgotten Nakumatt, before the failure at the national level.
After Mtwapa and the capital itself, the third branch of Kilifi County was opened by Managing Director Daniel Githua, together with the Town Manager of the new municipality, with some members of the board.
"We decided to bet on Malindi - said Githua, presenting the new supermarket - because it is a town in expansion and we believe in its potential. The fact that it has returned to being a municipality gives us even more confidence and security in offering a service to the population.
A service that not only means the return of large retailers and consequently to the competition that was lacking, but also new jobs.
"The CEO confirmed: "From Monday, talks will begin for the recruitment of local staff, we are happy to have arrived here too, Malindi deserves it.
Having said that, the crowd that had in the meantime gathered inside the atrium of the shopping centre, poured into the shelves and departments and began to take advantage of the offers and prices that had not been seen here for a while, filling trolleys all over the place. If you see the good morning in the morning, this morning we may have greeted a new benchmark for shopping in the city.
The new Oasis Mall supermarket in Malindi could reopen on August 8th.
