The African Centre for Disease Prevention and Control will be established in Kenya.
This was decided by the African Union and the World Health Organization, proposing with the World Bank the construction of a kes 8 billion building in Nairobi to house the facility, which will serve as a continental hub for medical research and disease control, particularly tropical viruses and diseases.
According to stakeholders, as the Kenyan Government spokesman also reiterated, it will also be of great help in logistics in the face of pandemics such as the current Coronavirus.
As part of its support for the creation of the "CDC Africa" in Kenya, the Chinese Government has offered to build the building, which will have 21 floors, including offices and specialist centres.
Once completed, the CDC Africa will provide employment opportunities for Kenyans for technical, administrative and support functions and specializations.
During the same meeting, the Kenyan Parliament also approved the new national bill for the management of the Civil Aviation sector. The bill is part of the important steps the Government is taking to position Kenya as the main aviation hub in Africa.
