Steven Spielberg has chosen Watamu to shoot his next movie, a Hollywood blockbuster narrating the African dream of an environmentalist, with a thousand adventures and misadventures.
The news was reported yesterday on the major theaters sites and has been around the world.
Few details leaked, but it will be an action movie where the main character will be former 007 Pierce Brosnan and the female part should be entrusted to beautiful British star Keira Knightley.
But it also seems that in the middle of the script, adapted by the seventy years old director and producer and based from a novel of the writer Avril Fisher, there is a tuk-tuk driver to electrical means by which Brosnan and Knightley will travel the streets of Kilifi County, until you reach the savannah, in the presence of the Big 5.
Other spectacular scenes will be shot Mida Creek, amid the mangroves.
The film, whose title is still unknown, is expected to begin in July. Spielberg has been in Watamu last week and, by the words of his staff, was enchanted.
It's also provided a casting call for local extras but especially “mzungu”, residents in Watamu area.
