Rhino horns from Kenya to Vietnam

Not only ivory, this smuggling continues

15-03-2017 by redazione

The last seizure took place yesterday in Vietnam, a hundred pounds of rhino horns from Kenya, reports the sad topicality smuggling related to protected species of the African savannah.
The battle against poachers who kill elephants also proceeds with encouraging results and especially the ban on ivory trade in two large importers like China and Thailand in the last two years has reduced the demand.
Seizures of ivory tusks were down 70% at the Port of Mombasa, but this is a fact that can not be shouting victory, because in national parks continue to be arrested gangs of assassins of pachyderms and occasionally is found an exemplary lifeless.
Last in the series the legendary Satao II, one of the few elephants in circulation by the giant fangs, killed by poison darts at you from criminals which moreover have not been able then to take some of his precious ivory.
On the rhino horn trafficking the problem seems minor but in fact is even more serious because of specimens there are even fewer and more than one species to be protected, it is an animal in real danger of extinction.
Vietnam remains one of the few countries where trade of the horns of this animal is very active, and anger joins the sadness in knowing that its sale is linked to beliefs without basis that they see in the dust of rhino horns a powerful aphrodisiac.
