Prepare generators, clean and oil mechanisms, stock up on fuel and organize yourself, at least in parts of Kenya.
From tomorrow, August 4, for a week in twenty counties of Kenya, including those on the coast, there will be power outages from 9 to 5 in the afternoon, in alternate areas, for maintenance work.
This was announced in a service communication by the company Kenya Power & Lightning, which confirmed that the blackouts will be staggered but necessary to facilitate maintenance and upgrading of the national grid, but also to connect new users and to replace old power lines with new connections more efficient and modern.
It will start tomorrow and Monday with different areas of the capital Nairobi and the main towns on Lake Victoria. Then it will be the turn of Nakuru and Machakos and to follow the other counties, from Nyeri to Kirinyaga, from Busia to Kiambu and Bomet.
On the coast the hardships will occur on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays: particularly in Mombasa in various parts of the city, Thursdays from 9am to 5pm, in Shanzu Beach in the areas of the resorts Intercontinental Hotel, Serena Beach Hotel, Pride Inn, Cowrie Shell, Wild Life Club, Go Cart, Severin Sea Lodge, Palm Beach, Plaza Beach and Kenya Bay. Thursday problems also in the tourist resort of Tiwi, near Diani and you in the area which includes several lodges near the entrance to the Tsavo National Park.
On Tuesday the blackout will affect KIlifi and its hinterland.
For now there are no communications about Malindi, Watamu and Mambrui.
