Very high level of security in Kenya after the proclamations of terror by Iranian Islamic extremists who summoned all their affiliates against the United States and the Trump government, in the aftermath of the assassination of one of their generals, Qasem Soleimani, calling for retaliatory terrorist actions all over the world.
Yesterday morning around 5 a.m. in the Lamu archipelago, a group of terrorists affiliated with the Somali cell of Al Shabaab tried to strike the American naval center of Magongoni, on the island of Manda.
The base called Camp Simba was attacked passing through the airport runway, but the grenade attack was promptly repelled by the joint forces of the Kenyan army and the United Nations, so that four terrorists were killed and others fled.
Unfortunately, as later confirmed by US sources, three American citizens, one military and two Pentagon contractors, were killed in the attack.
To be on the safe side, Lamu airport, which is right on the island of Manda and is not far from the site of the attack, was closed for half a day, but in the early afternoon it was already reopened for daily flights from Nairobi and Malindi.
There is a state of maximum alert especially at the American Embassy in Nairobi and in the other camps where there are military personnel traceable to the U.S. Army.
As confirmed by the Kenya Tourist Federation in a statement, the action does not worry the places of tourism that in these days are registering an excellent influx, as well as they are far from the well known destinations of the Kenyan coast, such as Malindi and Watamu, where security is important and there is no presence of American personnel or organizations.
