CORONAVIRUS

Percentages and deaths do not fall and the Kenyan government has decided to use the army to enforce the Covid-19 rules essential for the containment of the virus in the country.
Noting that very few people use protective masks and that few respect social distances, given the difficulty of washing themselves several times due to the endemic scarcity of water, President Kenyatta recalled that the first compatriots in the dock for the increase in coronavirus cases are the representatives of the institutions at all levels, especially those who should enforce the rules "in the field".
"In addition to setting an example, we politicians must stop the corruption that hinders the respect of protocols by interrupting rallies and rallies," said Kenyatta in his speech to the nation. Corruption at checkpoints and curfew checks, for example".
So in agreement with his Ministers and County Governors, the President decided that as of yesterday the Kenyan army will be in the front line to punish those who do not wear masks and do not respect distances, but also to check that activities, especially bars and restaurants, close at 9 p.m. and comply with their special protocols.
Police Inspector General Hillary Mutyambai has ordered all her officers that anyone found flaunting the Covid-19 rules should pay an immediate fine of Kes. 20,000.
Meanwhile, in the last 24 hours Kenya has recorded another 1008 positive cases of Covid-19, bringing the total number of cases in the country to 59,595.
In a statement released to the press on Thursday 5 November, Health Minister Mutahi Kagwe announced that 6,038 samples have been tested, with a percentage still well above guard levels, 16.8%.
During the same period, 802 patients were discharged, 679 from home care and 123 from various hospitals in the country, bringing the total number of cures to 39,193.
Unfortunately, 21 patients succumbed to the disease, bringing the total number of deaths to 1,072.
The ministerial report also indicates that 1,262 patients have been admitted to various healthcare facilities throughout the country, while 5,129 are in isolation and home care.
62 of the patients are in the intensive care unit (ICU), 26 are in ventilatory support and 31 in supplementary oxygen.
