A very special day was experienced on Saturday by the members of the Malindi Golf and Country Club who participated in the memorial dedicated to Sandro Eordegh, one of the pioneers and supporters of the structure, who died a few weeks ago.
What better way to celebrate his passion and humanity than a race like the many in which he participated from 1980 until last year, with a beautiful and heartfelt participation of many golfers.
His wife Lella and daughter Francesca Romana were present in his memory and his spirit hovered on the greens and fairways of the course Malindino as it will do in the future.
"It was an exciting memorial because it was lived in the memory of Sandro - Captain Harry Mwimali explained at the end - not only for the contribution he gave to the Golf Club but also for everything he did for the Malindi community".
Confirming the importance that Sandro Eordegh had not only on the green lawn, there was the Reverend Ken Karisa Kivondo, one of the first caddies of the unforgettable Genoese.
"I started in 1980 playing golf with Sandro, before becoming his caddy - recalled Kivondo - he helped me to finish school by paying the fees of secondary school, treating me like a son (in addition to me other 12 boys who have all become caddies), then gave me the opportunity to attend university in India and in the same way continued to support education to others. He was a great man and we will always remember him with adoration.
The competition saw the Italian Andrea Puricelli, who preceded the Kenyan Walter Okoth, stand out. Third place went to Kate Mwikali, founder of the Progress Welfare Association of Malindi, a group of responsible citizens who try to bring Malindi back to the splendor that Sandro knew and appreciated and for which he has always spent.
