History repeats itself and for the poorest regions of Kenya it is always a drama.
After months of incredible drought in the northern regions towards the border with Ethiopia, from Marsabit to Moyale and in the Turkana area in particular, with situations at the limit of tolerability, in recent days have arrived violent rains that, in addition to giving initial relief to the land to people and animals, have caused flooding and flooding.
In Moyale County alone, after two days of downpours, more than a thousand people have been displaced, with mud huts completely flooded and cattle dispersed.
Area leaders in the areas of Bori, Kinisa, Yaballi, Watiti and Godoma have called for an emergency for the homeless and fear that an unknown number of cattle may have died from drowning.
Of course, there is also the danger of waterborne diseases, as heavy rains continue to plague the region at this time.
"Now there is also the problem of roads - said the Governor of Marsabit County Mohamud Ali - our emergency team, the Red Cross and humanitarian organizations can not reach the affected families, because most of the roads are impassable.
After delaying with food and water supplies due to the drought, the Government is now called upon to go there with more food and medicines to deal with this new humanitarian drama.
"We are assessing the extent of the damage caused by the floods - said Regional Red Cross Coordinator Maurice Anyango to the press - our organization has so far been unable to distribute food and non-food items, including tents, blankets and soap because of impassable roads. In the rest of the country the small rains have come to bursts. Floods in Mombasa between Friday and Saturday, while on the rest of the coast it continues to rain especially at night. In Nairobi and the Rift Valley water is still expected to continue and it is hoped that the arrival will not be devastating.
